Hello! This is my second class entry. As you know, I’m teaching in a Basic English group. This time I taught “there is and there are” and some prepositions of place. 

Well, the warm up activity was “earthquake”; I know that most of us are familiar with this game; I could see that the students enjoyed it, and then I continue class with the presentation by using the book, because something that I also have realized is that most of the group does not use the book. I explained the topic to them and they got the the ideas very fast, after that they did some activities. 

 At the beginning I was nervous because my class was going to be recorded, but then I forgot that the camera was there. When I saw the video, I could realize that I made some simple mistakes while I was explaining to the students the warm up activity. 

 I liked the class, and in the video you can see how you look and in that way you can improve your classes!!

Hello!

My first class in this period was in basic level again, but this time with teacher Hercilia de Salas.

Let me tell you that some of the students are shy, I understand them because is their first year at the university, so they feel kind of nervous when they have to speak.

They are studying the simple past and in the warm up activity I asked them to stand up and make a circle, I played some music and they had to dance, when the music stopped they had to get in partners, and the one that does not get a partner had to tell me some rules about the simple past. I explained to them about the verb to be in the simple past. I could see they got the explanation, at the end as a wrap up I did a dictation, using the simple past.

I felt comfortable, I consider that the practices have helped us a lot, and I have realized that every group has it special touch; the teacher liked the class, and I liked the feedbacks because I learned from it. I also feel comfortable with the grade as well!!!

I liked this class, however the students did not want to participate but I enjoy it!!

Hello!!

My last class with the basic group was on Thursday 4^th. Let me tell you that at first I did not like the class; I did not enjoy it like the previous I performed!!!!

Well in that group, the students always bring the copies of the appendices but unfortunately in my last class, none of them got the copies and when I realized that situation I felt nervous. But fortunately, my classmate, Mary, went to get the copies for all the students while I was doing the warm up activity.

The teacher told me that I took a lot of time on the grammar notes and that´s why I missed some activities at the end of my class, because the time was not enough for me.

The students were going to have a mini presentation that day and they were kind of nervous, some of them did not pay attention because they were studying for that activity.

At the end, I said goodbye and I told them that it had been my last class, I also thanked them for their participation, and I let them know that I liked working with them. I consider that my last class was not the best, but I learned many things that for sure I will put in practice in my next classes!!

My second class in the basic group was on Thursday. The topic was not that difficult, it was about adverbs of frequency and I used Gustavo´s and George´s lesson plan.

As it was my second class, I felt more familiar with the ss since they are very friendly. Something that I realized is that they work better when the class is very active and motivated, so if in the last period you teach teacher Karina´s group you have to prepare many kinesthetic activities in order to have a nice class!

Well, first, as a warm up activity, I asked the students to stand up and make two groups in a row in front of the whiteboard. Then the first student had to write horizontally the first word that come to his/her mind; then, the second ss had to write vertically another word starting with the last letter of the previous word and so on. After that, for the presentation stage, I worked in the book; I used the handouts I mean the lesson plan for the grammar phase and the appendices for their practices. 

Again I really enjoyed the class. At the end as a wrap up activity I asked them to stand up and make a circle; then, I played some music and asked them to pass a funny diadem on their heads and when I stopped the music, the ss who got the diadem has to roll the dice which contained some adverbs of frequency so that the ss had to make a sentence putting in practice what they just had studied.

Indeed, I feel comfortable with the group, I like to work with them, and I learn in every class, I like the teacher´s suggestions and feedbacks too. Well, basically that´s all!! J

Hello guys!!

Today was my first class in Basic level with teacher Karina Carranza. First I felt a little nervous, I think it is normal because is a new group. But while I was teaching I felt comfortable.

I started the class by introducing myself, and then I perform the warm up activity, as they are studying the time and some “time expressions “  the warm up (Clock Buddies) was related to it, it was nice, They liked it!!

The group is very active, most of them like to participate and they enjoy doing kinesthetic activities, so now I know that I have to prepare more activities like those.

Something that was a little difficult for me was to manage the time, they had a lot of practice but at the end I felt that I needed more time to perform another activity.

Summing up, I like this group and I enjoyed the class!!

Hello!!

Today was my second teaching practicum, I felt more confident than the previous class. First because I already know the group, so I feel more familiar with them. I like the way this group work because most of them do the different activities very well.

I feel comfortable with myself when I see the group of students working in the activities I perform or when I see they have acquired something new.

Something that I really like is the feedback, because the teacher lets us know what works well and what does not, it helps us a lot to prepare a better class and so does not make many mistakes.

I really liked this class, I enjoyed it and I have learn that I have to improve more and to be more enthusiastic, but I am going to learn all those details through the practice!!

My first teaching experience

Well, my first experience in teaching was in intermediate II with teacher Ovidio Torres. My first class was on Friday.  I felt nervous because I did not know the topic I was going to teach on Friday, I also was worried because of the grammar part, but when I started the class with the warm up activity I felt confident, I know there is a first time to put in practice something.

Something that I liked is that the group work very well, they like to participate and perform the activities with motivation. Something that I could notice is that some of the students like to ask when they have any doubt.

I consider that this first experience has helped me to be more confident in what I do and to improve in some weaknesses that I probably did not know. Another point that I liked was the feedback, the teacher let me know what he liked and what I need to improve for the next class. 

I liked this first experience because I could work and perform all the activities with the students. They are eager to learn, although the group is large. They are adults they already know what they want, because in some of the activities they put in practice very well what they learned.

This experience is going to help me to improve and to put in practice all the knowledge that we have learned in these five years.
