Hello guys!!
Today was my first class in Basic level with teacher
Karina Carranza. First I felt a little nervous, I think it is normal because is
a new group. But while I was teaching I felt comfortable.
I started the class by introducing myself, and then I perform
the warm up activity, as they are studying the time and some “time expressions “
the warm up (Clock Buddies) was related
to it, it was nice, They liked it!!
The group is very active, most of them like to
participate and they enjoy doing kinesthetic activities, so now I know that I have
to prepare more activities like those.
Something that was a little difficult for me was to
manage the time, they had a lot of practice but at the end I felt that I needed
more time to perform another activity.
Summing up, I like this group and I enjoyed the
class!!
Blessings!! :)
Hello Maggie! it's good to know you enjoyed this experience. I was in basic in the first period; when teaching a level like that, you have to modify your language, use more mimics and might be the case of using games for the students to be active; however, I am not the kind of teacher that likes to play, but, in your case, as you are with basic group and you like those sort of activities just do your best ok. Keep on on the same track! Good job!!
ReplyDeleteHello Maggie! I had the opportunity to teach in a basic level the last period, and I consider that it is really nice because you can perform kinesthetic activities according to the topics that they study at that level, and the best is that when you develop TPR they do not get bored, and of course, as a teacher, you feel more comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI consider that you made a great job, and what I can suggest you is to be more careful with the time because in a class time can be your enemy in other to teach your students in the best way.
CONGRATULATIONS MAGGIE!!!
I knew you were to love this group. They are very participative and respecful with the teacher. As you mention, you have to make activities in which they are involved. Despite the maturity the group posseses, you should never forget they are in basic because those activities will make students' learning experience even more significant.
ReplyDeleteGood job Magggie!!
Hey there Maggie!
ReplyDeleteI just want to suggest you to plan well your lesson plan. Consider how much time each activity will take you (take into account doubts, slow Ss, and other unexpected situations) and include just those activities which fit; moreover, always keep track of the time, tell your Ss how much time they have before and during each activity, and I'm sure you will be able to have fun with many TPR activities.
Cheers!
You´re so right baby!!! they are a really nice group, very participatives and enthusiastics...we were teaching them in the first period!!! for sure they enjoy a lot doing TPR, and I know u will reach your goal!! as you said baby, the first time I think we all tend to feel really nervous, but as long as we are in contact with them, we forget about that and the class goes really nice!!! go ahead my dear!!!1
ReplyDeleteSometimes time is kind of difficult to manage because we can face unexpected situations that change that things we have planned. But through the experience we are getting we are going to know how to deal with them.
ReplyDeleteTPR activities will help you to get your students involved in your class and at the same time they will have fun at the time to learn.
As you said my dear prima, it is normal to get nervous in a new group. I think that the basic levels are more kinesthetic than other groups! In this time is when you learn playing and you have to be awared of it and get ready to shake!
ReplyDeleteNice warm up and keep on doing it great Maggy!!!
