Hello!!
My last class with the basic group was on Thursday 4th. Let me tell you that at first I did not like the class; I did not enjoy it like the previous I performed!!!!
Well in that group, the students always bring the copies of the appendices but unfortunately in my last class, none of them got the copies and when I realized that situation I felt nervous. But fortunately, my classmate, Mary, went to get the copies for all the students while I was doing the warm up activity.

The teacher told me that I took a lot of time on the grammar notes and that´s why I missed some activities at the end of my class, because the time was not enough for me.
The students were going to have a mini presentation that day and they were kind of nervous, some of them did not pay attention because they were studying for that activity.

At the end, I said goodbye and I told them that it had been my last class, I also thanked them for their participation, and I let them know that I liked working with them. I consider that my last class was not the best, but I learned many things that for sure I will put in practice in my next classes!!

  1. Maggie Maggie!! Well, sometimes things are not as we expect them, and when that happens we get nervous because we have no idea what to do; next time make sure they have the material, and do not worry since experience teaches us the best. I think that if you took a lot of time in the grammar explanation, it's beacause it was necessary; remember that a lesson plan is flexible in that sense. You might take more or less time than the expected; furthermore, I consider that as a teacher you must be aware that if students do not understand or simply need you to enhance the explanation you have to do it though it was not planned. I leave you here a phrase I shared in my blog. "I never teach my pupils, I only attemp to provide the conditions in which they can learn".It's Einstein's. keep up the good work ok!

  2. Maggie Maggie Maggie!!!
Unexpected situations are everywhere!!!! And you have to keep in mind the plan B. When working with photocopies, it is always better to have them and you give them to your students. Even though you know that they have the material, you don't know if they have the material in that specific class.

Let me tell you that for me also there are some classes that I don't really like. They are not bad at all, but they are not like we wanted them to be. But this is just part of the everyday teaching...just keep on doing your best! Nice blog cousin!

  4. Wow maggie!!!
That's why we can say we were never be 100% ready. Even if you prepare the best lesson ever, you need your students help as well.
Thank God Mary could help you out of this situation.
About the time management, this I consider it will depend on how fast your students are, and if they need reinforcement of the topic; you have to be able to provide thet help, and not give to them things on half.
I am pretty sure that each day we teach we learn something new. At the end, we can be able to manage somehow some of the difficulties we faced.
    Nice job maggie

  5. These kind of situations will always come up when we are teachers. I am sorry you faced a hard one, but look at the good side: you learned from it! Having a plan B is a good option to be ready, just in case. Anyways, we always need the help from others just as Marilyu helped you. The time always depends on how quick your students learn, especially the topic that you present. If they do not understand, go back and explain to them again. :). Keep up with the good work and try to get familiar with the unexpected situations. :)
