Hello!
This is my second class entry.
As you know, I’m teaching in a Basic English group. This time I taught “there is and there are” and some prepositions of place.
Well, the warm up activity was “earthquake”; I know that most of us are familiar with this game; I could see that the students enjoyed it, and then I continue class with the presentation by using the book, because something that I also have realized is that most of the group does not use the book. I explained the topic to them and they got the the ideas very fast, after that they did some activities.
At the beginning I was nervous because my class was going to be recorded, but then I forgot that the camera was there. When I saw the video, I could realize that I made some simple mistakes while I was explaining to the students the warm up activity.
I liked the class, and in the video you can see how you look and in that way you can improve your classes!!
Well, that´s all I can say about this experience ;)
See you!! God bless you!!!
Tiernudita!!
ReplyDeleteHey Maggy! This is for sure one of the truest comments. Many Ss don't use the book and others don't even have it. This is quite a problem because you want to work with the book's activities but it gets a little difficult.
To be recorded is really useful, as you said.....you can notice your mistakes and use it to improve :D
Nice class and a really crazy ( in a good way) warm up (Y) Kudos
Hello Maggie!
ReplyDeleteI loved the activity named: "Earthquake". It is good because your students enjoy and have fun, so you can establish a link between you and your students, in other words, you will give confidence to your students.
As you know, we are not prefect, so we make mistakes. Don't worry I made mistakes when I was recording my class too.
Congratulations Maggie!!! GOOD CLASS!
Hey there Maggie!
ReplyDeletesuch an electrifying warm up, hehe I like it. Regarding books stuff, I think that the fact that several Ss don't have the book can affect the process; however, you can be prepared before hand by making some copies of the pages you will be using and giving them to those who don't have the book Try it :)
Blessings for you too!
Hi Maggie. I think that everybody gets nerveos to be in front of one camera, baut that is something we have to do. about your class i like the warm up because students get motivated playing that. Congratulations i know you are doing it well.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent warm up! It was a very nice class, and of course, you were nervous because you knew you were filmed. Lol! I know you are doing an excellent job, and you will improve because when you see yourself teaching, you notice what you do well and what you did not do well. Anyways, keep up with the good work!
ReplyDeleteHello maggie...
ReplyDeleteI can perfectly understand when you say you got nervous for the recording moment, but indeed, when you start the class, you dont even realize about that.
I guess the purpose of the recording is to realize not the mistakes, but the things we still have to improve and we dont even realize. About your class, I know your students loved the earthquake game, and the class was nicely done. We may face different issues like the one from the book, but we need to cope with those things.
You still have a third chance, so you can make the improvements you need to feel satisfy with your class
Show us the video baby!!!! You know that we love the famous "earthquake" game thanks to teacher Aida, we had a lot of fun performing it over and over every time we got the chance....I know what you felt with the camera recording your class, that´s why Ely and I did it twice(just in case you know jajaja) because we knew that mistakes will be present, but the purpose of that I think, is to see how we manage the body language and how clear we are when giving directions to the Ss. Congrats my dear Maggie because I know you did a great job!!! :P
ReplyDeleteMargarita,
ReplyDeleteCongratuloations on your first teaching practicum experience. I can tell how much you are growing as a professional and as a person in every single class you teach. Continue with that attitude and I am sure you will become a great teacher.
Congrats!
